Abstract: The concept of Industry 4.0 is based on the intelligent networking of machines and other production systems using advanced information and communication technologies. Through the use of advanced information and communication technology, factories are increasingly exposed to cyber attacks and threats, which aim at the loss of data essential for production processes, and indirectly, the slowing down of production. In some cases, these attacks result in damage to the equipment used. By analyzing the impact on information and communication technologies, it is possible to develop a preventive system against cyber influences, thereby ensuring a certain level of process protection. The aim of this paper is to introduce the fundamental activities and technologies of cybersecurity in the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept. The paper includes an analysis of the European cybersecurity report, as well as proposed solutions for protection against cyber attacks in industry. Furthermore, forms of cyber threats are explained in detail, along with methods for their prevention using industrial security standards that specify approaches and methods of cyber protection across various operational spheres.
